Delhi Police arrests 3 with Rs 50 lakh in fake currency
The Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang that was involved in printing and supplying fake currency in the form of Rs 500 banknotes. Special Commissioner of Police (Special cell) HGS Dhaliwal said the police arrested Asif Ali, 27, Dalish Ali, 24, and Sartaj Khan, 25, all from UP’s Badaun, from near the Akshardham Metro station on December 30. According to police, Danish Ali is a student of Bachelor of Unani Medicines and Surgery (BUMS), and Sartaj Khan runs a Common Service Centre (CSC) in Badaun.
CBI closes 2019 IPL betting cases over lack of evidence
The CBI has closed two cases related to alleged fixing of Indian Premier League matches in 2019 “based on inputs” from Pakistan due to lack of evidence, officials said on Tuesday. The agency had filed two FIRs in May 2022 against seven people after receiving information that “a network of individuals involved in cricket betting are influencing the outcome of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches based on inputs received from Pakistan”. Vodafone Idea says not in tie-up talks with Elon Musk’s Starlink
Vodafone Idea is not in talks to tie-up with billionaire Elon Musk’s satellite internet unit Starlink, the Indian telecom operator said on Tuesday, sending its shares down 5%. The clarification from Vodafone Idea came after its stock surged in the past two sessions on what business magazine BusinessWorld said were “markets betting” that Musk was looking to buy a stake in the company to help Starlink enter India. Mild earthquake hits Jammu
An earthquake of 3.9 magnitude hit Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday but there were no reports of any damage, officials said. The National Centre of Seismology said the tremor was felt at 11.33 am. The depth of the earthquake was five kilometres below the surface at 32.76 degrees north and 74.57 degrees east, it said. (PTI)

Cold wave grips Jammu and Kashmir, thick fog affects visibility
