Two school-going girls of class 10th were killed on Thursday after being run over by a train in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.
The incident occurred during a newly laid track test run, prompting Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to order an inquiry, as PTI reported.
According to an official release, the deceased have been named as Babli Masare and Radhika Bhaskar, both 17 years old. They lost their lives in the Kailod Hala vicinity on Thursday evening during a test run of a recently constructed railway track with a passing train.
“The girls were run over while crossing the tracks on their way home after tuition. This was the first time a train had passed on the route. Later, MP minister and local MLA Tulsiram Silawat informed Vaishnaw about the accident, following which the latter directed the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ratlam to conduct an inquiry,” the release stated.

DRM Rajnish Kumar stated that warnings were issued for the past two days concerning the train trials on the freshly constructed route following the track doubling. Despite these alerts, the girls were struck while crossing the tracks.
“After the doubling of tracks, people were being warned through different means for the last two days about the train trial on this route. They were told they should not come onto the tracks in an unauthorised manner,” the DRM said.
