Six workers dead as fire breaks out at glove factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, CM announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced a compensation Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the six persons who were killed in a massive fire that broke out at a gloves factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, formerly known as Aurangabad, in Maharashtra in the early hours of Sunday.

The blaze broke out in Sunshine Enterprises unit, where hand gloves are manufactured, in Waluj MIDC area at around 1 AM, when 13 workers were sleeping inside, according to officials, reported PTI.

CM Shinde expressed grief over the loss of lives, and a statement from the CMO said Shinde issued directives to authorities to disburse Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and also bear the medical expenses of those injured.

The exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.

A worker told news agency ANI, “10-15 workers were sleeping inside the building when the fire broke out. Some managed to escape, but at least five were trapped inside.”
