At the heart of Ayodhya’s transformation lies the Greenfield Township, a sprawling project envisioned to be a model pilgrimage city of the future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to initiate the establishment of this township on Saturday. Valued at Rs 2,180 crore, it will reportedly be spread over 1200 acres of land.
Ayodhya GreenField Township: Land and design
According to multiple reports, the state government has already started with online applications invited for the allocation of plots designated for mutts, ashrams, dharamshalas, and commercial purposes. A report by Hindustan Times claims that the expansive township is planned to span 1407 acres on both sides of the Lucknow-Gorakhpur highway, with an additional extension of 442 acres slated for the second phase.
The township’s design will reportedly integrate with Ayodhya‘s existing cultural landscape. Traditional architectural elements and local craftsmanship are expected to find renewed expression in the buildings and public spaces. This sensitive approach ensures that the township feels like a natural extension of the city, not a jarring imposition.
A beacon of progress for Ayodhya and beyond
The Ayodhya Greenfield Township project is a strategic initiative by the state government to alleviate congestion in the temple town. This becomes especially crucial as the influx of devotees is expected to surge significantly following the opening of the Ram temple to devotees on January 22 next year.
The Greenfield Township is not just a development project; it’s a symbol of Ayodhya’s aspirations for the future. It aims to be a shining example of how ancient cities can embrace modernity while preserving their cultural identity. By prioritizing sustainability, inclusivity, and spiritual well-being, the township holds the potential to become a model for pilgrimage cities not only in India but around the world.
