Suggest a good headline for this: Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Kerala Public Enterprises (Selection and Recruitment) Board, marking a significant step in transparent and efficient recruitment for public sector units (PSUs). The establishment, located at Vellayambalam, aims to streamline the selection process for capable candidates within state-run entities.
According to news agency PTI, the CM highlighted the board’s objective to bolster the effectiveness of public sector institutions, starting with PSUs under the Department of Industries and Commerce. Furthermore, PSUs from other departments can also utilise the board’s services for recruitment.
Board’s performance so far
A statement from State Industries Minister P Rajeev’s office emphasised that the board’s formation fulfills a commitment outlined in the ruling LDF’s manifesto. It’s designed to identify skilled individuals for PSU positions while ensuring transparency and adhering to reservation principles.
Initially, the board will oversee the selection process for various roles in 20 public sector institutions under the Department of Industry and Commerce. Moreover, it has completed the selection of managing directors for 12 PSUs, with responsibilities extending to contractual appointments exceeding one year, the news agency further reported.
Roles and responsibilities of the board
The board has been entrusted with the selection for the appointment of managing directors in 22 public sector institutions and the selection process for the post of Managing Director in 12 PSUs has been completed.
The board’s purview also extends to contractual appointments of more than one year in public sector institutions, PTI reported.
In May, the government issued an order constituting a special recruitment board, and a five-member board has since come into existence. The chairman of the board is former Chief Secretary VP Joy.
