India has been fined two World Test Championship points and their ten per cent match fees for maintaining a slow over rate in the first test match between South Africa. After the defeat against South Africa in the test, India is ranked sixth in the WTC rankings with 14 points after three games.

In the first test match at Centurion, South Africa defeated India by an innings and 32 runs. While batting first, India managed to post 245 in their first innings with the help of KL Rahul’s century. Kagiso Rabada took five wickets. In response, South Africa scored 408, with Dean Elgar’s 185 and Marco Jansen’s 84. Indian batting was never in good shape, except for Virat Kohli who scored 76 at a good pace, only to see his team shatter like cards. India could only score 131 runs, failing to fulfil the deficit of 32 runs in the first innings.

After three games, India have a win, a draw and a defeat in the World Test Championship. The win percentage of India reflects 38 per cent, as per the ICC World Test Championship after the boxing day tests. South Africa, who have just played one game against India sits at the top of the rankings, followed by New Zealand, Australia and Bangladesh with a 50 per cent winning record.
