Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched West Bengal’s first “Vande Bharat Express” from Howrah station. He was scheduled to visit the state on December 30, but he stayed away from the events due to the sudden demise of his mother.

The train with 16 coaches, covers 564 km in 7.5 hours and can cut down on travel time by about three hours compared to other scheduled trains on the route. It will make a stoppage at Malda, Bolpur, and Baroi. (Twitter/NarendraModi)

During its inaugural run today, the HWH- NJP Vande Bharat Express will stop at 17 railway stations. It will take more than 20 hours to reach the destination. (PTI Image)

The train will operate six days a week except on Wednesdays. It can cover a distance of 600 kilometres in about 8 hours. The train will leave Howrah at 05:55 am and reach the New Jalpaiguri Railway station at 15:05 pm. It will then depart at 15:05 hours to reach Howrah at 22:35 hours. (Twitter/Narendra Modi)
