Live Updates 16:09 (IST) 28 Jul 2023 Where is share market headed after Nifty ends below 19650, Bank Nifty below 45470

Benchmark indices NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex ended the week’s last trading session in red. “The better-than-expected US Q2 GDP data, though positive, hindered the mood of the domestic market as it signalled the chances of another rate hike. The Fed chief’s comments about a data-centric approach without ruling out rate hikes added to the uncertainty. Furthermore, the reversal of the buying trend by FII and the rise in US bond yields contributed to market volatility. However, Asian markets remained largely positive due to the BOJ’s decision to retain the policy rate, contrary to speculation about the removal of stimulus measures,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.

13:37 (IST) 28 Jul 2023 Gold prices falling on US GDP, ECB, not US Fed; gold to remain rangebound between Rs 59500-58500 levels

It was an eventful week with plenty of data along with the US Fed meeting, ECB, and BOJ monetary policy meeting. The Federal Reserve’s 25 basis-point interest rate rise from Wednesday afternoon was largely digested by Thursday. The markets had no significant reactions to Fed Chair Powell’s comments at his news conference, which were regarded to be neither too hawkish nor too dovish. Some Fed observers believe the central bank has completed its cycle of rate hikes, while others believe the Fed will raise rates again in November. However, action in gold started during the commencement of the ECB policy. The euro came under pressure against the dollar due to the European Central Bank’s decision to adopt a more data-dependent policy, which has led to a session low in gold prices. At one time, gold breached its support of $1950 before recovering back above that level.

The NSE Nifty 50 dipped 28.80 points or 0.15% to 19,631.10 and BSE Sensex tumbled 111.26 points or 0.17% to 66,155.56.

09:00 (IST) 28 Jul 2023 Bank Nifty break below 45400 could escalate selling pressure

“Bank Nifty encountered strong resistance at the 46000 level, which is significant as it corresponds to the point with the highest open interest on the call side. This indicates that many traders had placed call options at this level, anticipating limited upside potential for the index. On the downside, the index found support around the 45400 level. A break below this support level could escalate selling pressure in the market, potentially leading to further downward movements in the index,” said Kunal Shah, Senior Technical & Derivative analyst at LKP Securities.

Share Market Outlook Today

09:00 (IST) 28 Jul 2023 Bank Nifty resistance at 45850-46000

The Index has closed below four days close after a rangebound move in the last week. A short-term correction can be expected if Bank Nifty trades below 45500 levels. Crucial levels on the downside will be 45600 followed by 45400; Resistance is placed at 45850 followed by 46000,” Mitesh Karwa, Research Analyst, Bonanza Portfolio Ltd.

08:59 (IST) 28 Jul 2023 Nifty could rally till 19875-19900

“On daily charts, the Nifty has formed a lower top and bearish candle which is indicating further correction from the current levels. For traders now, 19800 would be the key resistance zone and below the same, the correction wave is likely to continue till 19600-19550. On the flip side, above 19800 the market could rally till 19875-19900,” said Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Research (Retail), Kotak Securities Ltd.

Share Market Outlook Today

08:59 (IST) 28 Jul 2023 Nifty resistance at 19850–19880

“The profit booking may extend a bit and the support level of 19500 (20EMA) is likely to get challenged. This average has proven to be a strong base during previous price corrections in May and June, resulting in significant positive momentum. Therefore, it holds pivotal importance for the upcoming sessions, as a break below it may lead to meaningful profit booking in days to come. On the other hand, yesterday’s supply zone around 19850–19880 is expected to act as a stiff resistance, and only a breakthrough would trigger an upside momentum,” said Rajesh Bhosale, Technical Analyst at Angel One Ltd.

Share Market Outlook Today

08:13 (IST) 28 Jul 2023 USDINR support at 81.58; resistance at 82.80

“As rates are rising across the globe, money flow has been overall positive. India has attracted huge inflows, to put that into facts and numbers, since March there have been continuous inflows in domestic equities. In the last two months, it has attracted around Rs 90,000 cr of inflows. RBI seems to be well-accumulating flows adding to FX reserves without much depreciation of the rupee. Important is to keep an eye on Brent Crude prices from here on, as it has the power to affect the fiscal maths of India. For USDINR, positionally 81.58 is acting as a strong support while 82.80 is a resistance,” said Kunal Sodhani, VP, Global Trading Center, Shinhan Bank.

“The FOMC’s decision aligned with market expectations as they implemented a 25 bps hike and expressed a data-centric approach for future rate actions. Positive global sentiment prevailed due to the reduced prospects of a US recession. Despite this, the domestic market witnessed sharp corrections led by banks and autos, while pharma stocks performed on a positive start to their earnings season,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.
